We’ve Launched Specialized Treatment for the Rise in Lower Back Pain Since COVID-19!
With the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and extended remote work, many people spend long hours sitting, hunched forward over a computer with strain on the neck and back, while reduced activity leads to weight gain.
The stiff shoulders, headaches, postural imbalance, and autonomic nervous system disorders caused by lower back pain are all warning signs.
At Caretta Shiodome Clinic, we perform acupuncture treatment using an original bed developed by Dr. Yong Liu, M.D., designed to minimize strain on the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. This relieves not only muscle tension but also the pressure placed on the vertebral discs by body weight and poor posture. It improves blood circulation within the facet joints while using the body’s own weight to gently ease compression between the vertebrae.
If you are struggling with early-stage lumbar disc herniation, spondylolisthesis, or spinal stenosis, please consult our clinic.

Together with our treatment staff who inherited his methods, we have been involved in over 500,000 treatments across our clinics in Roppongi, Shiodome, Shibuya, and Shimbashi. Patient Testimonials & Reviews
Lower Back Pain / N.W., Female, 50s-60s, 6 visits
The stiff muscles and tendons behind my lower back and hip pain gradually loosened up through acupuncture treatment at HARI-UP, and my body became much easier to stretch. The misalignment caused by my scoliosis was also corrected through the acupuncture treatment.
Acupuncture is often thought of as something that just eases pain, but it works on the whole body—effective enough to correct posture and skeletal alignment. If you are struggling with lower back pain, hip pain, scoliosis, or postural imbalance, I really recommend experiencing HARI-UP’s acupuncture treatment for yourself.
Insomnia / S.S., Male, 10s-20s, 3 visits
I had struggled with insomnia for years, taking sleeping pills continuously for about 20 years. But after just a few days of acupuncture treatment at HARI-UP, I was able to fall asleep naturally without medication.
Since starting treatment at HARI-UP, the dose of my sleeping pills has gradually decreased, and I can feel my chronic insomnia improving through acupuncture. To anyone still taking medication without improvement, or anyone hoping to reduce their sleeping pills, I really want you to experience this same relief. If you are struggling with insomnia or sleep disorders, please consult HARI-UP first.
Stiff Shoulders / Konomi Ueda, Female, 30s, 4 visits
After receiving acupuncture at HARI-UP, my stiff shoulders were relieved right away, and even the swelling in my legs went down so much that my shoes felt looser. After every session, my body feels lighter, and I really feel that multiple concerns—like shoulder stiffness and leg swelling—are being cared for at the same time.
During treatment, Dr. Kitagawa explains my condition clearly as we go, so I can relax and leave my body in his hands. For anyone new to acupuncture, or anyone anxious about their symptoms, HARI-UP’s careful counseling and treatment make it easy to recommend with full confidence.
Thank you always, Dr. Kitagawa.
Neck & Shoulder Stiffness / T.M., Male, 50s-60s, 7 visits
After receiving acupuncture at HARI-UP, the neck and shoulder pain I had suffered from for years eased almost immediately, and I felt like I was back in my teens.
Regardless of age, I feel that the real appeal of acupuncture is that it can leave you feeling even better than before the pain started. If you are struggling with chronic neck stiffness, shoulder stiffness, or shoulder pain, please try HARI-UP’s acupuncture treatment at least once. I’m sure you’ll find yourself thinking, “I wish I had come sooner.”
Swelling / I.Y., Female, 30s-40s, 14 visits
I started acupuncture treatment at HARI-UP for swelling and a sprain, and since then my body tires less easily, and I’ve become more aware of changes in my own condition.
At HARI-UP, even when I’m not feeling any particular discomfort, the practitioner carefully picks up on signs from my body that I hadn’t noticed myself. I recommend acupuncture as preventive care not only for people with specific symptoms like swelling, sprains, or chronic fatigue, but also for anyone who just feels generally unwell or can’t seem to shake their tiredness.
Stiff Shoulders / S.M., Female, 20s
I came in for everyday shoulder stiffness from desk work and a sudden pain in my knee. This was my first time trying acupuncture, which was recommended to me, so I was a little scared at first, but Ms. Murata’s thoughtfulness in talking to me before inserting the needles put me at ease. The shoulder stiffness and body pain I had always taken for granted disappeared as if it had never been there, and I was moved to realize just how wonderful it feels for your body to be light.
Lower Back Pain / E.S., Female, 30s
I originally came in after hurting my right lower back during sports, but instead of just treating the painful area, they also addressed the root cause behind it, and my pain is now gone. Now I visit regularly for maintenance, with adjustments timed to my performance peaks. I’ve also been taught many stretches I can do at home, which has helped me rethink how I use my body.
Stiff Shoulders & Headaches / A.K., Female, 20s
I hadn’t been feeling well for a while, and on the day of my visit I had chronic stiffness in my neck and shoulders, along with headaches and loss of appetite. Lower back pain had also started two days before treatment, so I was in rough shape, but after massage and acupuncture, both my headache and lower back pain cleared up. During treatment, they explained my body’s condition in detail, which gave me a lot to reflect on, but I also received helpful advice, and I really felt that I need to start taking better care of myself going forward. After treatment, my whole body felt clear and light, the swelling went down, and even my complexion improved. Thank you so much.
Frozen Shoulder / K.S., Male, 50s
My left shoulder hurt so much I couldn’t raise it at all, but after just the first session, the pain was almost completely gone—it honestly felt unbelievable. At my second visit, three days later, they also treated my legs and stomach with acupuncture, and I barely noticed any discomfort anymore. Then, by my third visit ten days later, it felt like my whole body had been restored to health, not just my shoulder. Thank you so much. Knowing I can come back anytime is very reassuring! I look forward to continuing to come here.
Sciatica / R.W., Female, 50s
My symptoms started two weeks before my visit, and I came in right away—by the first session, I had already recovered about 70%. Because of my job, I spend a lot of time in meetings sitting down, which puts strain on my lower back, hips, and thighs and has caused my sciatica to recur repeatedly, but since starting treatment, the pain comes back much less often, and I’ve been very comfortable. From the second through fifth sessions, I came at short intervals, and from the sixth session onward, I’ve been coming once a week, and thanks to the acupuncture, the pain no longer becomes severe. Thank you so much.
Sciatica / E.S., Female, 50s
My sciatic pain had gotten so bad I couldn’t put weight on my left leg, but by the time I left, I could already walk a little. After three days of acupuncture treatment, I can now walk normally. Thank you so much. Mr. Kang, I’m truly grateful.
Acute Lower Back Pain / K.T., Male, 50s
I came in for acute lower back pain. The first session brought only slight relief, but after a second session the very next day, I felt much better. I was told that acute lower back pain is often linked to everyday fatigue building up, so I now make sure to get acupuncture treatment once a week. The skill level here is so high that I can come with complete peace of mind.
Left Shoulder Pain / S.N., Male, 60s
I came in for treatment of my left shoulder, which I had injured during a golf swing. After two months of electrical stimulation therapy and exercise therapy at an orthopedic clinic with no improvement, I decided to try acupuncture based on my past experience recovering from lower back pain caused by a traffic accident using acupuncture, and after treatment three times a week, I was freed from the pain. I was surprised by how precisely they identified the affected area and how quickly the pain improved, and I intend to keep being carefully followed up until I’m fully recovered.
Frozen Shoulder / M.E., Male, 40s
I had felt something was wrong in both shoulders for about six months and had been going to an orthopedic clinic, but since it never fully resolved, I started coming to HARI-UP Caretta Shiodome Clinic. Through treatment, they explained the reason behind the pain on each side, and I could feel gradual improvement, which I was truly grateful for. I look forward to continuing to come here.
Meniere’s Disease / A., Female, 30s
Three months ago I developed Meniere’s disease without dizziness. A month ago, hearing in my right ear dropped, and although medication improved it, a lingering sense of ear fullness remained, which is why I started coming here. From the very first consultation, they listened to me carefully, and by examining my whole-body condition beyond just my ear, they pointed out things I hadn’t even noticed myself, which gave me a chance to reconsider my own body. I was surprised that I felt the effects starting right after my very first treatment. After three sessions of acupuncture, the ear fullness had improved by about 90%. I plan to keep coming until I am fully recovered.

No, you will not. If you have visited any HARI-UP branch before, you will be treated as a returning patient (2nd visit or later) at any other branch, so please rest assured.
While it varies from person to person, many feel “a little better” or notice changes around their first to third visit. For chronic conditions, continuous acupuncture is effective until the body “memorizes” the balance. Since many patients start by coming once a week for the first 1-2 months, we recommend starting by simply “trying it once.”
All needles we use are pre-sterilized “disposable” needles. We never reuse needles; a brand-new one is used for each session and disposed of immediately afterward, so there is no need to worry about infection.
For a 60-minute course, the first visit will take about 70 minutes, including the consultation and condition check. From the second visit onward, the session will primarily focus on treatment and take about 60 minutes.
Rarely, you may experience temporary sluggishness or sleepiness after treatment, known as a “healing crisis.” This is a sign that your body is changing and usually settles down in 1-2 days. We adjust the treatment to prevent strong reactions from excessive stimulation, but if you are concerned, we recommend leaving your schedule open after your first visit.
Many choose to visit once a week for the first 1-2 months. Once symptoms calm down, the interval is extended to once every two weeks, and then to once a month for maintenance. We will decide together based on your lifestyle and symptoms, allowing you to visit at a comfortable pace.
Yes, acupuncture can be safely combined with almost all medications. It is also chosen as a complementary option for those who want to “reduce medication.” Please let us know what medications you are taking during your initial consultation.
It is completely different from injection needles. We use ultra-fine needles, about the thickness of a human hair. You might feel a slight prick when it is inserted, but most people say “it hurt less than I expected.” We finely adjust the stimulation, so even first-timers can receive treatment with peace of mind.
Booking via LINE is the smoothest method. You can check real-time availability and easily send a message even just for “consultation only.” Of course, we also accept reservations by phone.
