Facial Nerve Palsy / Y.A., Male, 50s, 7 visits
I was diagnosed with severe facial nerve palsy and told, “All we can do now is watch and wait — if it doesn’t improve, surgery will be the only option,” which left me feeling utterly hopeless. An acquaintance introduced me to HARI-UP, and I started acupuncture treatment still full of anxiety. By just my third session, I could already see clear recovery. I truly thought, “I wish I had come sooner.” I had spent so much time not knowing what to do, with almost no information available on treatments for facial nerve palsy — I wish I had known sooner that acupuncture could be effective for it. Now, after seven sessions, the muscles around my mouth and cheeks have started moving again, and my expression is coming back. Severe facial nerve palsy that doctors said would need surgery is steadily improving through acupuncture at HARI-UP. Thank you so much.

Facial Nerve Palsy / S.N. (mother), Female, 30s, 3 visits
During summer break, my 8-year-old suddenly developed facial nerve palsy. We continued steroid treatment at a university hospital, but the symptoms showed no improvement at all. Anxious and searching for an acupuncture clinic experienced with pediatric facial nerve palsy, we found our way to HARI-UP. After just one session of acupuncture and moxibustion with Dr. Liu, we could already see clear recovery. Now, after three sessions, my child’s facial movement has changed completely compared to before treatment, and the “Yanagihara score” used to measure recovery from facial nerve palsy has risen significantly. My child’s facial nerve palsy, which didn’t improve with steroid treatment at the hospital, is steadily recovering through acupuncture at HARI-UP. To any parent worried about their child’s facial nerve palsy, I really recommend at least one consultation. Dr. Liu, thank you so much for your time despite how busy you are.

Facial Nerve Palsy / Y.G., Female, 70s, 53 visits
Five years had passed since I was diagnosed with facial nerve palsy, and my doctor told me, “There’s nothing more we can do,” which made me nearly give up on ever recovering. Then I started acupuncture treatment at HARI-UP, and the movement around my mouth, which hadn’t improved in years, began to come back — to the point that the left-right asymmetry I used to notice in photos no longer bothers me. Even for those who developed facial nerve palsy years ago, or who have already finished treatment at a hospital, acupuncture may still be able to help. If you’re struggling with lingering facial nerve palsy, facial asymmetry, or reduced mouth movement, please consult HARI-UP.

Facial Nerve Palsy / A.E., Female, 30s
In September 2024, I developed Ramsay Hunt syndrome and facial nerve palsy. My doctor told me, “With an EMG reading below 5%, if it doesn’t recover within a year, it won’t recover at all,” and I was discharged. I continued going to a nearby acupuncture clinic for two months with no sign of recovery, and in a state of anxiety and frustration, I happened to see Dr. Liu’s YouTube videos and thought, “Maybe they can help me here,” so I came to HARI-UP. Treatment from Top Master Dr. Onishi was clearly different from the acupuncture I’d received elsewhere — every session I could feel my facial nerve “waking up,” with sensations running toward my nose that made me ask, “What was that just now?” By my eighth session, my cheek, which hadn’t moved at all for a long time, showed a small amount of movement, which gave me real hope and emotion. During treatment, Dr. Onishi’s words — “I will absolutely fix this. You’ll be okay!” — gave me a powerful sense of reassurance, and I could feel my body’s natural healing power increasing. If you’re struggling with Ramsay Hunt syndrome or facial nerve palsy, and haven’t seen improvement at a hospital or nearby acupuncture clinic, please consult HARI-UP. Rather than continuing to worry alone, I’d recommend coming here as soon as possible.

Facial Nerve Palsy / K.D., Male, 30s, 7 visits
I developed treatment-resistant Ramsay Hunt syndrome, leading to severe facial nerve palsy, and was hospitalized. The paralyzed side of my face wouldn’t move at all, and I felt crushed under the weight of not knowing what would happen to me — but with the thought “I can’t stay like this,” I found my way to HARI-UP. Supported by Dr. Liu’s warm encouragement, I continued treatment, and now, after seven acupuncture sessions, I have recovered to about 80%. I’m just one step away from a full recovery, and I genuinely feel that coming to HARI-UP was the right decision. Early acupuncture treatment is key to recovering from Ramsay Hunt syndrome and facial nerve palsy. Of course, day-to-day preventive care matters too, so it doesn’t happen in the first place — but for anyone struggling with facial nerve palsy, I confidently recommend HARI-UP. Thank you, Dr. Liu.

Stiff Shoulders / M.S., Female, 30s
After giving birth, my shoulders were extremely stiff, so I tried massage and acupuncture together for the first time. I had an image of acupuncture as painful, but there was almost no pain at all, which put me at ease. The massage also felt wonderful, and I felt completely refreshed afterward.

Traumatic Mydriasis / H.I., Male, 40s
I hit my eye hard while skiing and developed symptoms resembling traumatic mydriasis, so I visited Dr. Liu. My pupil, which had become abnormally dilated, got smaller with each treatment, and my vision has felt much clearer.

Lower Back Pain / Y.S., Male, 50s
On my very first visit, the lower back and whole-body pain I had suffered from for six years improved in a single session. I used to need something to lean on just to stand up, but now I can stand right up without support. When I started walking, I could just walk normally — pain I hadn’t been free of in years, finally gone. Thank you so much.

Frozen Shoulder / K.T., Male, 50s
I couldn’t raise my right arm due to severe pain, and anxiety was constantly on my mind, but after just one acupuncture session, I was able to live my life just as before. I’m truly grateful. I came in half-doubting it would work — I’m sorry for doubting. I honestly can’t believe it. I was deeply impressed by Dr. Liu’s skill.

Facial Nerve Palsy / T.N., Female, 40s
Suspected of having facial nerve palsy (Bell’s palsy), I was hospitalized at a general hospital for IV treatment, but even after discharge there was no change in my eyelid movement or the tightness in my face. While searching for a better treatment option, I came across Dr. Liu Acupuncture Clinic. It was my first time at an acupuncture clinic and I was nervous, but they listened carefully to my symptoms, which put me at ease. After just two treatments, I noticed changes in both my eyelid and cheek movement, and even the corner of my mouth started lifting. Thank you so much!

Facial Nerve Palsy / T.T., Female, 30s
I developed facial nerve palsy a few years ago. Tests showed nothing abnormal, and I continued treatment with steroid IVs and oral medication, but saw no improvement. As the medication started taking a toll on my body and causing other symptoms, I found Dr. Liu’s clinic and went in for a consultation. With each treatment session, the muscles on my paralyzed side began to move, and it gave me real hope. Thank you.

Atopic Dermatitis / M.N., Female, 40s
I had suffered from atopic dermatitis for years and had been going to dermatology clinics for decades. Someone introduced me to Dr. Liu, and after just a single treatment, I could feel my skin improving day by day. I always assumed skin flare-ups, atopic dermatitis, and hives were purely a dermatology matter, but I’d really recommend anyone unfamiliar with acupuncture to give it a try at least once.

Facial Nerve Palsy / K.Y., Male, 40s
I didn’t know what to do after developing facial nerve palsy, until I came across a social media post about Dr. Liu — the doctor who had treated Takeshi Kitano’s facial nerve palsy — and remembered that friends around me had also recommended him before, so I reached out. A doctor had told me, with a sense of hopelessness, “It will never fully heal,” which had left me discouraged, so I came to HARI-UP as a last resort. Just talking with the staff there lifted my spirits and let me receive treatment with peace of mind. By my fourth treatment, my recovery was hardly noticeable to others anymore — I’m so glad I came in early.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

A

Yes, we have a referral system. If you present a “Referral Card” from the person who introduced you, or mention their name when booking or visiting, the discount will be applied. Please feel free to let us know. It cannot be combined with other discounts, such as first-time exclusive courses.

A

Yes, to make it easier for regular maintenance, we offer 5-session and 10-session Treatment Passports. We will propose a plan tailored to your symptoms and preferred visit frequency, so please ask our staff for details.

A

No, you will not. If you have visited any HARI-UP branch before, you will be treated as a returning patient (2nd visit or later) at any other branch, so please rest assured.

A

While it varies from person to person, many feel “a little better” or notice changes around their first to third visit. For chronic conditions, continuous acupuncture is effective until the body “memorizes” the balance. Since many patients start by coming once a week for the first 1-2 months, we recommend starting by simply “trying it once.”

A

All needles we use are pre-sterilized “disposable” needles. We never reuse needles; a brand-new one is used for each session and disposed of immediately afterward, so there is no need to worry about infection.

A

For a 60-minute course, the first visit will take about 70 minutes, including the consultation and condition check. From the second visit onward, the session will primarily focus on treatment and take about 60 minutes.

A

Rarely, you may experience temporary sluggishness or sleepiness after treatment, known as a “healing crisis.” This is a sign that your body is changing and usually settles down in 1-2 days. We adjust the treatment to prevent strong reactions from excessive stimulation, but if you are concerned, we recommend leaving your schedule open after your first visit.

A

Many choose to visit once a week for the first 1-2 months. Once symptoms calm down, the interval is extended to once every two weeks, and then to once a month for maintenance. We will decide together based on your lifestyle and symptoms, allowing you to visit at a comfortable pace.

A

Yes, acupuncture can be safely combined with almost all medications. It is also chosen as a complementary option for those who want to “reduce medication.” Please let us know what medications you are taking during your initial consultation.

A

It is completely different from injection needles. We use ultra-fine needles, about the thickness of a human hair. You might feel a slight prick when it is inserted, but most people say “it hurt less than I expected.” We finely adjust the stimulation, so even first-timers can receive treatment with peace of mind.

A

Booking via LINE is the smoothest method. You can check real-time availability and easily send a message even just for “consultation only.” Of course, we also accept reservations by phone.

A
